This project was for a family who loved their existing Cape Cod-style home and desirable neighborhood but needed more space to spend time together and entertain. The addition included a spacious great room, mudroom, garage, and outdoor living area. The rear of the home was redesigned to be an open concept area, with a more functional kitchen to prepare meals for friends and family. A stunning focal point is the expansive island with a combination of granite and custom wood countertop. The trayed ceiling in the great room increases the ceiling height and adds volume, and the unique benches flanking the fireplace provide added storage and additional seating. Built-in bookcase nooks are a charming detail and the perfect spot to display pictures and treasures.
